MusicBox demo video →
Cool information display on your music library. Courtesy of Ethan, who said: ethanb: This is the only audio/music software that has blown my mind since I learned Pro Tools like 10 years ago. I love it because it will help more people become better DJ’s more easily… I still want to make a lightweight piece of audio software that makes it easy to beatmatch/crossfade/”mix” on the fly…

Heather Rivers must really be a lovely person. Here again, she updates the original Tumblr tag cloud code with a new improved one that works brilliantly. Drop this code chunk into your “info” section, like I have, and watch it work with YOUR tags.

SoundCloud →
This is a really impressive site in the Web 2.0 style for sharing music. It appears they’re like the 37signals products, and in fact I found about it by Ryan Singer on the Signal vs. Noise blog. Very slick. I can see using this instead of MySpace Music for sharing original recordings.

Loopt on its way out soon?
I got a strange email from Loopt, the location-sharing social media app, yesterday. They’re offering $10 iTunes cards for anyone who can get 5 friends to join them on Loopt. I hope they are not as desperate as this sounds. I fear that Pownce is not the only social Web community that will shut down over the holidays. I also got a note that productivity app Stikkit is shutting down this...

REI Go Playlist: Download Free Music! Snowboard... →
Pretty interesting microsite from REI, concepted I think by my old college friend Eddie, who’s now on Madison Avenue. I can just hear the client meeting now: “We’re doing well with the baby boomers who canoe, but we need to keep the brand fresh with the kids these days — we want to be the first stop for the “snowboard generation.” The snow scene reminds me of...

Suffering from the Netflix effect
We joined Netflix about four years ago, and have loved it ever since. From time to time, we’ve gotten slow with movies, and barely turned around one per month. Other times, we’re watching and shipping them back as fast as we can. Overall, it’s been a great thing. I’ve loved never having late fees. I’ve also loved not going to Hollywood Video or Blockbuster ever...
